Laura, i have an unpopular belief that all acts are selfish. I truly believe it as a staple in the human diet. People find it uncomfortable and that is fine. I’m willing to bet great sums that the person who decided to carry the wounded to the other side could not bare listening to the anguish he was in. As did the others, and hence they did not kill that which alleviated all their suffering.
And i’m not suggesting that the act is not courageous, it was beyond a shadow, but each person out there was likely better off not having to listen to a dying man die.
Hopefully i didn’t buthcher my speeling to bad.
Ciao Colin. It’s nice to hear from you again. I completely agree with you. All the men were probably very grateful not to listen to the injured man, and like you said, better off for it.
besides the word spelling : )
